Learning for the Future...
Since 2002, Ilminster's focus on starting where students feel most confident - that is, where their interest, strength and in many cases passion lies has seen the development and strengthening of Learning Centres.
Giving students the opportunity to make an informed decision as to where their learning journey continues at Ilminster is just the beginning of two years of academic, social, cultural, sporting and technological opportunities to name a few. The major focus of course being to build confidence and realisation in each student that they have a future worth striving for, and that they are and can be 'Simply the Best!'
The New Zealand Curriculum Document introduced in its draft form in 2006 and now mandatory for all schools strongly aligns with the philosophy of the school as well as challenges the board, staff and school community to continue to focus on student engagement through the development of effective teaching and learning practices and approaches that develop lifelong learners.
